Description from the seller
Two-seater divan in Louis XV style - 20th Century Era
A refined two-seat canapé in the Louis XV style, featuring a solid wood frame finely carved with sinuous lines. The furniture rests on five cabriole legs, of which one central leg provides greater stability and structural support.
The backrest is double, with a 'chapeau de gendarme'-shaped profile that adds a touch of classic elegance. The upholstery is a cream/champagne-toned damask fabric with tone-on-tone floral motifs, finished with a coordinated braided trim.
Technical characteristics:
- Style: Louis XV
- Material: Wood (likely walnut or stained beech)
- Seats: 2
- Legs: 5 cabriole legs
- Details: Subtle floral carvings on the crown and the front rail.
Conditions (to read carefully):
The divan appears structurally solid but requires some restoration and cleaning work to return to its former splendor. As highlighted by the close-up photographs:
- Frame: There is a missing small carved wood portion on the top of the backrest (photo DSC_0091) and scattered wear marks along the edges of the wood (photos DSC_0095/96).
- Upholstery: The seat and backrest show stains from use and age (photo DSC_0097).
- Bottom part: The underside protective fabric (dust cover) shows large moisture stains, dampness marks, and dirt (photos DSC_0099/0102). Cleaning the fabric or reupholstering is advised.
- Fastening: Some staples or small fixing nails are visible or slightly loosened in the underside."}
