Description from the seller
The piece is an antique cabinet, often identified as a pantry or sideboard. The cabinet suggests a Renaissance (or Neorenaissance) style, very common in Portuguese and Spanish furniture production from the late 19th century to the first half of the 20th century.
Identification of Period and Style
Style: This is a two-part pantry/sideboard cabinet. The diamond-point embossed panels on the doors and the forged iron hardware are typical of the rustic, solid aesthetic of 17th-century influence furniture, but are frequently reproduced as a "style" in later periods.
Likely Period: Given the patina of the wood and the type of finish, it is very likely dating from the early 20th century (c. 1920–1950). Original pieces from the 17th century are extremely rare and show wear and construction techniques (such as wooden dowels) that are very specific.
Main Features:
Structure and Material: Made of solid wood, commonly in cherry, walnut, oak, or rosewood. Often has a two-body structure (upper and lower parts separated).
Artistic Work: Features diamond-point or geometric embossed panels on the doors and carved side columns with decorative motifs.
Hardware: Forged iron details, including long, ornate hinges (mirrors), as well as functional locks from the period.
Base: Rests on feet that may be of the "cookie" type (round and flattened) or carved.
Common Functions:
Originally, these cabinets were used to store silverware, textiles, porcelain, or even weapons in more remote periods. Today, they are standout pieces in interior design, serving as wine storage cabinets, sideboards, or storage furniture in rustic or eclectic dining rooms.
Wooden drinks cabinet.
Table dimensions: 91 x 79.5 x 32.5 cm
No damage or restorations.
