Description from the seller
Guanyin Porcelain Statue "Blanc de Chine" – China – Second half of the 20th century
Description of the Item
Elegant porcelain sculpture "Blanc de Chine" (Dehua) finely worked, depicting the deity Guanyin (Goddess of Mercy and Bodhisattva of Compassion). The figure stands on a base richly decorated with lotus flowers and water leaves, symbols of purity and enlightenment.
The goddess holds a lotus bud in her hands, with a serene and meditative facial expression. The drapery of the garment is fluid and detailed, typical of Dehua-inspired classical artistic production. The glossy finish and the whiteness highlight the three-dimensionality of the forms and the elegance of the figure.
A detail of notable collectible interest is the detachable left hand (see photo). Inside the hidden joint of the arm, an ancient paper authenticity label has been inserted and preserved, bearing the maker's mark and name (visible in macro photos). This type of "hidden signature" is a feature that adds historical charm and provenance proof to the piece.
Material: Glazed porcelain (Blanc de Chine / Dehua).
Estimated period: Second half of the 20th century (c. 1960-1980).
Origin: China (Fujian region).
