Description from the seller

Title:
Figurative mantel clock in régule – allegory of Music with lyre – France, XIX century

Description:
Important mantel clock in patinated metal (régule) depicting a seated female figure with a lyre, allegory of Music.

The sculpture presents an elegant neoclassical setting, with a draped figure in a gathered pose and gaze directed upward, characterized by an accurate rendering of anatomical details and drapery. The lyre, a distinctive iconographic element, gives the work strong symbolic and decorative value.

The base, richly decorated with ornamental motifs, integrates the circular dial with Roman numerals on enamel cartouches. The mechanical movement is visible from the back and appears complete, typical of nineteenth-century French production.

An object of great stage presence, ideal as a decorative element in classical or eclectic interiors.

Condition:
- good overall condition
- original patina of the metal well preserved
- dial with slight signs of age
- mechanism present but not tested (revisions/review recommended)
- normal signs of wear consistent with age

Era: XIX century
Provenance: France
Material: patinated régule, enameled elements
Dimensions: [to be inserted]

Notes:
A highly regarded type in the antique market for its strong decorative impact and the quality of the sculptural composition.
