The nuggets consist of native gold of very high purity, sometimes with small natural traces of silver or copper. They formed about 2.5 billion years ago during hydrothermal mineralization processes within quartz veins. Over time, the erosion of the rocks released the gold, allowing natural alluvial nuggets with unique shapes to form.
