The Shure 545 Unidyne III, known as the “grandfather” of the SM57, set the standard for the company’s cardioid dynamic microphones from Niles, IL, USA.
Introduced in the early 1960s, it was the first microphone to offer high performance in a compact format, often preferred for its excellent response (50 Hz to 15 kHz) for vocals, electric guitars, and, in particular, blues harmonists.
Completing its strengths are the internal shock absorber and the high feedback rejection (-20 dB/180°).
Its unmistakable sound comes from the dynamic capsule R45 and the internal transformer 51E23, which has both low- and high-impedance windings, making the microphone powerful and versatile, and easily configurable by the user.
The Shure 545 offered here, completely original, is supplied with:
- original Shure MC4M connector already wired with XLR (Hi-Z configuration),
- original Shure A25D microphone stand,
- a copy of the original manual and other technical information.
Visible cosmetic condition due to use and age does not affect the sound quality of this microphone, which is normally functional and tested before shipment.
