Description from the seller

DESCRIPTION (ENGLISH)

Celtic horse and rider in bronze — Iron Age, circa 1st century BC – 2nd century AD

An interesting and expressive bronze figure depicting a mounted rider, dating to the Late Iron Age / early Roman period (circa 1st century BC – 2nd century AD), within the European Celtic cultural sphere.

The horse is shown in a dynamic pose, with one foreleg raised, while the rider, rendered in a stylised yet clearly defined manner, lifts his right arm in a gesture that may represent holding a spear or weapon. The simplified and abstract treatment of both human and animal forms is characteristic of small-scale Celtic bronze productions.

Such figures are often associated with votive, symbolic or decorative contexts, reflecting the importance of the horse in Celtic culture as a symbol of status, mobility and power.

The surface displays an attractive ancient patina with green and brown tones, consistent with natural bronze oxidation over time.

A highly evocative and collectible piece with strong visual presence.

DESCRIPTION (SPANISH)

Jinete celta a caballo en bronce — Edad del Hierro, ca. siglo I a.C. – II d.C.
