The subject of this auction is a photograph of a painting by David Shepherd, featuring a handwritten dedication by the artist.
Richard David Shepherd CBE FRSA FGRA (April 25, 1931 – September 19, 2017) was a British artist and one of the world’s most outspoken environmental activists.
He was best known for his paintings of steam locomotives (he owned several) and wildlife, though he also frequently painted airplanes, portraits (especially the “Queen Mother”), and landscapes. His works have enjoyed immense popularity since the 1960s, both as limited-edition reproductions and posters, as well as in other media, such as limited-edition Wedgwood tableware. He published five books about his art, including an autobiography.
The item is in very good condition, framed and glazed—see the photos included in the description.
