Description from the seller

Tadep Mambila healing fetish,
Donga Valley, Nigeria/Cameroon.

36.5 cm

Wood inlaid with a deep dark-brown patina, pigments.

At the border of Nigeria and Cameroon, in the Donga Valley, lives the Mambila people. This is a population of farmers and herders living in "difficult" cohabitation with the larger Fulani population, nomadic herders.

Many works have been created within the Suaga, a system of masquerades and oaths accompanied by sacrifices.
