Description from the seller
Baroque/Rococo Style Frame – Carved and Gilded Wood – 20th Century
Elegant carved wooden frame from the early 20th century, crafted following the decorative canons of the Louis XV/Rococo style. This is a piece with great visual impact, ideal both for enhancing classical oil paintings and for being converted into a luxury mirror.
Artistic Details:
Design: Moulded structure with sinuous profiles and deep relief.
Ornamentation: Rich decoration with rocaille, scrolls, and acanthus leaves on the corners and at the centers of each rail.
Finish: Period gilding with an aged patina that highlights the depth of the carving, giving it an ancient and noble character.
Condition and Conservation:
Condition: Very good (see photographs). Maintains structural solidity and the beauty of the original gilding.
Back: Traditional miter joint assembly. Shows minimal traces of old backing paper/seals that do not affect the frontal aesthetics at all.
Material: Solid wood with stucco appliqués for the fine ornamental details.
