DESCRIPTION
INTRODUCTION
A fine Ethiopian wooden weaving shuttle distinguished by its elegant canoe-like form, elongated proportions and deeply aged patina. Functional in origin, it also stands out as a highly satisfying minimalist object.
FORM AND PRESENCE
This example is especially appealing for the purity of its silhouette: long, narrow and pointed at both ends, with a central cavity for the thread spool. The gently swelling volume and attenuated extremities give the object a remarkably balanced and almost aerodynamic appearance.
SURFACE AND AGE
The wood has developed a rich old patina, with warm brown tones, softened edges and visible use-wear consistent with long handling. The surface is particularly attractive for its density and depth, which reinforce the impression of age and authenticity.
CONDITION
Condition consistent with age and use.
Visible wear, abrasions and small losses.
Old surface marks and minor irregularities throughout.
No stand.
