Antique Victorian sterling silver calling card case, having a shaped rectangular body with hand-engraved floral decoration, and a side-hinged lid. It is hallmarked for Birmingham 1858 with the makers mark being that of Edward Smith. It has been beautifully made and finely engraved with a unsigned cartouche. It is in superb condition and the lid still closes nice and tight. It measures 10cms by 7cms and weighs 65 grams. A superbly designed beautifully clean example. This silver case also has its original leather case box. This case box has the dealers A.B. Savory & Sons name and under this name they were in business until 1866. The box is generally in good condition with some light scratch marks underneath. The insides ivory coloured linen shows its 160 year age and has lost its lustre and looks dull and gruby with some foxing. It measures 11 cms by 8 cms and weighs 44 grams.
