Description from the seller
Enchanting table service that represents a historical testimony of the taste and Italian ceramic art from the late 19th or early 20th century. Signed S.C. Richard (Società Ceramica Richard), this set stands out for a delicacy of another era and an bucolic elegance.
The porcelain, with characteristic shaped and wavy forms, is embellished with a decoration of small scattered floral motifs, in warm hues of yellow and pink. The added value of this lot is its workmanship: as clearly evident from the mark impressed on the back of each piece ("Decorazione a mano"), every single flower was applied by the master painters of the manufactory. The thin gilded edge that runs along the undulated rims catches the light, creating a soft luminosity that enhances the white surface of the ceramic and lends a touch of noble refinement to the table.
The service, extremely rich and varied, includes:
- 24 flat plates 23ø
- 12 soup plates 23ø
- 12 saucers 19.5ø
- 2 small oval serving plates 20.5x12.5
- 1 gravy boat 19x14
- 1 salad bowl 28ø
- 1 oval serving plate 37x26
- 1 round serving plate 31ø
- 1 tureen 40x26
The S.C. Richard mark identifies the production of the Società Ceramica Richard prior to the historic fusion with the Ginori manufactory of Doccia that occurred in 1896. These are thus pieces of great historical interest, representing the peak of Milanese industrial and artistic production of the era. The objects marked with the "Decorazione a mano" were intended for a refined clientele seeking the uniqueness of artisanal touch even in prestigious productions.
Condition
The service is in excellent condition considering its age. It bears the noble signs of time, such as slight fading of the gilding and the decoration in some areas, which only serve to confirm its antiquity and the authenticity of the manual painting process.
Shipping and Packaging
To preserve the integrity of this precious historic set, professional customized packaging will be prepared for each piece. The shipment will be handled via traceable express courier, ensuring safety and professionalism in transport to your home
