Description from the seller
Crystal-cut ginger jar with lid and two accompanying glasses – Europe, circa 1830
An impressive and rare ensemble of blown crystal, consisting of a ginger jar with lid and two matching glasses, originating from Europe and dating to around 1830. The ginger pot is executed in an elegant pinecone shape, richly adorned with refined cutting that reflects the light in a splendid way.
The combination of the jar with two matching glasses makes this set particularly distinctive: such sets were used in the 19th century for serving sweets, liqueurs, or spices and formed an important part of the table setting in well-to-do circles. The heavy crystal and the precise cutting technique testify to high craftsmanship from this period.
The geometric patterns and facets create a lively play of light and shadow, while the pinecone shape stands as a symbol of abundance and hospitality. The two glasses harmonize in terms of cutting and style with the jar and enhance the decorative character of the whole.
An exceptional and decorative collectible, belonging among the more remarkable objects in antique crystal both by its composition and by its quality and age.
