An Edwardian antique walking stick from the United Kingdom dating to 1900–1910, with a domed silver-handled grip richly chased with foliate scrollwork and a pierced knop for a wrist strap, a hardwood shaft with a secondary silver collar, 87 cm high, and in good condition with minor signs of aging.
Description from the seller
A refined and highly decorative English walking stick, dating to the Edwardian period, distinguished by its richly engraved silver knop and elegant proportions.
The handle is of domed form, finely chased with dense foliate scrollwork of exceptional fluidity, centred with an engraved monogram cartouche. Notably, the knop is of a broader-than-usual diameter, lending the piece a more substantial and luxurious presence in the hand – a feature less commonly encountered in comparable examples. The knop is pierced to accommodate a wrist strap, a practical feature typical of walking sticks of the period. The silver has been acid-tested and confirms silver content.
The shaft is crafted from a richly toned hardwood, displaying attractive natural figuring and patina developed over time. A secondary silver collar reinforces the upper section, adding both structural integrity and visual refinement.
A particularly appealing example of Edwardian craftsmanship, combining decorative sophistication with strong collector presence.
Good antique condition. The silver handle shows light surface wear and minor marks consistent with age. The wooden shaft shows age-related wear, including surface marks and a visible line to the upper section, which appears superficial and not structural. The ferrule shows expected wear commensurate with age and careful use.
