Description from the seller

This is a natural Japanese whetstone known as 伊予砥 (Iyo-to), traditionally quarried in the Iyo region of Japan. It is classified as a medium-grade sharpening stone, suitable for general blade maintenance and intermediate sharpening.

Natural whetstones are valued for their unique abrasive qualities and tactile feedback, preferred by craftsmen and knife enthusiasts. Each stone has individual characteristics depending on its geological formation, making every piece unique.

The stone shows natural aging and usage marks, which are typical for this type of tool. Due to its natural origin, it may not be compatible with all blade types or steels. Proper care is recommended, including drying thoroughly after use and storing in a stable, dry environment to prevent cracking.

A practical and collectible item for users of traditional Japanese tools and sharpening enthusiasts.
