Important historic wall mirror, made of carved and stuccoed wood, with water-gilding, following decorative models of Baroque tradition. The piece presents an elegant vertical format, topped by a richly carved pediment with scrollwork and symmetrical vegetal motifs, a distinctive element of representation mirrors inspired by Late Baroque.
The frame is elaborately worked, with deep moulding and protruding elements around its perimeter, designed to enhance the play of light on the gilding. The quality of the carving and the harmony of the whole recall historicist productions of the 19th century, made according to classical canons and intended for prestigious interiors.
It retains its antique crystal, with patina, slight waviness, and small imperfections typical of the passage of time, features common and appreciated in original period pieces. The gilding shows natural wear and tiny pointed losses, consistent with its age and reinforcing its authenticity.
