Antique marble fireplace clock — late 19th century (dated 1893)
Stunning antique marble fireplace clock in black marble with inlays of veined pink marble and brass decorations. French manufacture from the late 19th century during the Napoleonic III era
Rare feature:
The underside bears a handwritten ancient inscription:
« Moncelo B. — Cordobes — 8-1893 »
(probably a dedication or Spanish ownership mark dating from August 1893).
Authentic period engraving.
Mechanism:
Original mechanical movement wound by key (clock time + striking).
Not tested recently — sold as is.
Dial and hands:
Enamel dial with original Roman numerals
Hour hand old (probably original)
Minute hand replaced long ago, not matching and slightly deformed
Small lower hand not conforming to the model (added/replacement)
Set of hands not homogeneous, to be restored for an optimal presentation.
General condition:
Marble structure in good condition for its age
Normal signs of wear (over 130 years)
Some marks and patina of time
Complete item but possibly requiring revision
Ideal for decoration, collection or restoration.
