Description from the seller
Mercedes 300 E 4-MATIC of the W124 series (MoPf1) in very beautiful original condition, condition 2+ according to classic-analytics Professional-Check.
This beautiful and well-maintained car was first delivered on 17.04.1990 in Amriswil (Canton Thurgau) and driven from 1999 in sunny Ticino. Service and maintenance were mostly performed at Mercedes-Benz and at the prescribed intervals. The invalid Swiss vehicle registration, the service book with the original data card, and the onboard folder with the original operating instructions, etc., are of course present and in as well-maintained a condition as the car itself.
Non-smoker vehicle, no animals.
Purchased once by me in Switzerland, the vehicle is offered from my private collection for space reasons. The vehicle was properly customs-cleared when imported into the EU. German H-approval since 2021. I am the first and only registered owner in the German vehicle registration.
Minimal imperfections (mainly the protective trim of the front bumper, which can be easily replaced). Please note the attached photos and feel free to verify during a personal viewing.

Additional information:
Technical inspection (TÜV/HU):
The last technical inspection (German main inspection) took place on 26.04.2023 at 193,479 km and was valid until 30.04.2025. Currently the mileage is 193,614 km (as of 23.03.2026) and another 300 to 400 km may be added in the coming days.
The vehicle has always stood dry in a clean hall when not in use. Since I registered this vehicle with a seasonal plate only for March and April of each year, the main inspection in Germany could be overdue by two (registration) months without penalty, so I have not renewed it yet. I am confident that the vehicle will pass the technical inspection without any problems and am happy to renew it before potential export against the inspection fee (about €200). It would then be valid for two more years and a German export plate could be applied for the transfer on its own axle.
I am not sure whether the German HU is recognised in all EU countries or whether you must present the vehicle again for approval when registering in another country (this varies by country). Please check the conditions in your destination country. If the German HU is not recognised there, the vehicle would have to be re-presented locally.
Drivability:
The vehicle is, of course, drivable and, in my view, can be transported on its own axles to distant destinations without problems. Note only the service interval (oil change). Transport on a truck or trailer is not required.
However, I would recommend performing an engine oil change before the journey or immediately after the transfer on its own axle, as the last oil change was at 184,000 km and Mercedes recommends an oil change every 10,000 km. The oil itself is still clean. Oil level and oil pressure are in the optimal range (I checked the oil today).
4MATIC system:
The 4MATIC works flawlessly. There are no hydraulic leaks known and the warning lights go out after starting. Everything is as it should be.
Service book:
The original Mercedes service book with data card and all documents belonging to the original onboard folder are present and will, of course, be included with the vehicle.
The complete maintenance history is documented in the service book. For some of the performed work, the original service invoices are also included.
Rust and bodywork:
I know of no corrosion. All jack points and the rear wheel arches are in excellent condition. I have taken a few current photos of the jack points and the rear wheel arches. This Mercedes had an excellent cavity protection during its initial delivery—as is customary in Switzerland—and is in correspondingly good condition.
Import documents:
All customs and import formalities from Switzerland to the EU were completed in 2021.
Otherwise registration in Germany (EU) would not have been possible.

Catawiki always aims to offer you the best possible buying experience. Our experts virtually review and select every vehicle in line with our submission guidelines and we require our sellers to provide the most accurate description of the vehicle. However, providing a fully detailed analysis of the vehicle is extremely difficult, and close to impossible. To guide you, we ask our sellers to provide information about the vehicle’s condition. Please consider that most vehicles for sale are classic vehicles and they often already have a whole life behind them, meaning that even a condition 1 or 2 vehicle might need maintenance to be ready for the road. It is advised to carefully read our submission guidelines that further describe details about the condition grades and types to manage your expectations. Cars are sold “as is”, meaning as described and in the condition they are in at the time of the sale and without any representation, warranty or assumption of liability of any kind as to the condition by Catawiki or by the seller. The condition of this item is the opinion of the seller and may differ from yours, your local garage, or the dealer’s opinion. This does not automatically mean the car does not conform to its description. Before bidding, please check your local legislation regarding vehicle registration. Neither the seller nor Catawiki is responsible for the registration of the vehicle in your country and will not accept a cancellation for your failure to register the vehicle. We also recommend that, if possible, you arrange a viewing with the seller before placing a bid.
