Description from the seller

Porsche 968 3.0 16V Targa Coupé Tiptronic

GENERAL

The Porsche 968 is equipped with an evolved version of the well-known 944 inline-four engine. In the 968, this was enlarged to an impressive three-liter displacement, with a bore of 104 mm and a stroke of 88 mm. This made it at the time the largest four-cylinder production engine in the world.

This Porsche was originally delivered new in 1992 in the United States and spent most of its life there before being imported to the Netherlands in 2025. From the American period there are many invoices and maintenance receipts available, providing solid documentation of its history.

INTERIOR

The interior is original and in good condition. The dashboard shows a few small cracks at the top, which is appropriate for its age. The headliner is neat, though it is letting go slightly in one corner.

The car is equipped with leather upholstery and features an electrically retractable Targa roof that functions well. This makes open-top driving easy and carefree, with no issues with operation or seal.

All electrical components function properly. The interior gives a neat and original impression.

PAINTWORK & BODYWORK

The paintwork is in neat condition and gives the car a fresh look. There are a few very small signs of use, appropriate for its age and mileage.

The car originates from Arizona, which means the bodywork is rust-free — an important plus for this type of classic. Under the hood, everything looks very clean and well-kept.

TECHNICAL

The car starts, runs, and shifts well. The Tiptronic transmission operates as it should.

In recent years, a lot has been renewed technically. Notably, the timing belt and water pump have been replaced. In 2025, a new drivetrain was installed worth approximately $2,000.

The car sits on attractive original Cup wheels.

AREAS OF ATTENTION

The right exterior door handle does not function; it opens from the inside. The external lever is defective. In recent years the Porsche has been little used, so a small maintenance service is advisable.

DOCUMENTATION

The car is delivered with:

– All original booklets
– A very extensive Carfax report
– USA Title
– Dutch import papers
– Proof that all import duties and taxes for Europe have been paid
– A folder with 33 years of history and invoices
– Original tools
- No CoC document is required for this car.

From Carfax, an incident reported in 2013 on the front bumper is noted. This was handled at the time through the insurance, resulting in a Salvage entry for the car.

This makes the vehicle fully imported and administratively ready for registration.

OTHER

The car is currently offered with an American Title and has not yet been inspected for use on public roads in the Netherlands or the EU.

We can provide assistance with transport throughout Europe if desired.

Although we describe our vehicles as honestly and precisely as possible, it remains a used car. Small signs of wear or points of attention can always be present. For serious interest we recommend viewing the car in person.

LOCATION

The Porsche can be viewed and potentially collected in Damwoude, the Netherlands.

Disclaimer

Catawiki always aims to offer you the best possible buying experience. Our experts virtually review and select every vehicle in line with our submission guidelines and we require our sellers to provide the most accurate description of the vehicle. However, providing a fully detailed analysis of the vehicle is extremely difficult, and close to impossible. To guide you, we ask our sellers to provide information about the vehicle’s condition. Please consider that most vehicles for sale are classic vehicles and they often already have a whole life behind them, meaning that even a condition 1 or 2 vehicle might need maintenance to be ready for the road. It is advised to carefully read our submission guidelines that further describe details about the condition grades and types to manage your expectations. Cars are sold “as is”, meaning as described and in the condition they are in at the time of the sale and without any representation, warranty or assumption of liability of any kind as to the condition by Catawiki or by the seller. The condition of this item is the opinion of the seller and may differ from yours, your local garage, or the dealer’s opinion. This does not automatically mean the car does not conform to its description. Before bidding, please check your local legislation regarding vehicle registration. Neither the seller nor Catawiki is responsible for the registration of the vehicle in your country and will not accept a cancellation for your failure to register the vehicle. We also recommend that, if possible, you arrange a viewing with the seller before placing a bid.
