an icon from the golden age of digital audio, the Marantz CD-80 (type reference 74CD80). This player is regarded by audio enthusiasts worldwide as one of the best-sounding CD players ever built, thanks to its uncompromising build quality and the use of legendary components.
The Marantz CD-80 was produced between 1989 and 1993. The device is a textbook example of Japanese and Belgian engineering from a time when no expense was spared.
Year of manufacture: circa 1989-1993.
Weight: No less than 15 kg, a testament to the massive die-cast chassis and the heavy Zamac side panels that minimize resonances.
DAC: The famed Philips TDA1541A-S1 (Single Crown) chip for an unsurpassed musical and analogue sound.
Transport: The indestructible Philips CDM-1 Mk II swing-arm mechanism made of cast aluminium.
Connections: Fixed and variable analogue outputs, plus optical and coaxial digital outputs.
Dimensions: 454 x 136 x 363 mm.

The unit functions fully!
Cosmetic: In very neat condition with minimal signs of use (see photos).
Technical: Fully tested. The tray opens and closes smoothly and the player reads discs (including CD-Rs) incredibly fast.
