AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

We present a very old Turkish Hereke rug, knottted 100% by hand in wool over cotton.

Unlike the typical silk Herekes, this piece stands out for its wool construction, which makes it more robust and gives it a very special character. It features an elegant field with a repeated boteh (paisley) design on a dark background, accompanied by a rich and detailed border. The wool shows a lovely patina from the passage of time, adding authenticity and charm to the piece.

Dated between 1920 and 1930, it is in good overall condition. The rug’s structure is intact, with no breaks or damage in the field. There is wear and beginning of fraying in the fringe area, something common in pieces of this age.

The rug needs professional cleaning. It has not been cleaned to avoid damage, especially to the fringes, so it is recommended that the process be carried out by a specialist.
