Kota Songo
Metal, wood, the eyes seem to be made of bone
Height: 210mm + base 24mm
Width: 70mm
Depth: 55mm
Small reliquary standing 21cm tall excluding the base.
The Kota people live mainly to the east of Gabon and to the west of the Congo.
Many Kota reliquary figures exist. They share common characteristics: a face made of sheets of metal plated onto a wooden core and a handle in the shape of a diamond.
The reliquary baskets or "bwété" were kept at the back of the chief's hut. The "bwété" were venerated by offerings and prayers whose aim was to bring prosperity to the clan. At the top of the "bwété" was placed a reliquary statue possessing a body strongly stylized in a diamond shape and a head covered with metal.

The objects are shipped with insurance and a tracking number.
