Jewellery box - Gilt brass

Small rectangular jewelry box in cut glass with bevels, mounted in a gilt brass frame decorated with a beaded frieze. The lid is hinged and opens by a small hinge mechanism.

The interior is lined with a padded red velvet cushion, intended to display jewelry, rings, or small precious objects. The piece rests on four cabriole feet with rocaille decoration.

This type of decorative box, highly prized in bourgeois interiors of the late 19th century, was intended to store jewelry, keepsakes, or precious objects.

French work from the Napoleonic III era (late 19th century).
