Jewellery box - Gilt brass

Small rectangular jewelry box made of cut glass with beveled facets, mounted in a gilded brass mount with a frieze pattern. The lid is hinged and opens by a small hinge mechanism.

The interior is lined with a quilted red velvet cushion, intended to display jewelry, rings, or small precious objects. The whole rests on four cabriole feet with Rocaille ornament.

This type of decorative box, much appreciated in bourgeois interiors of the late 19th century, was meant to hold jewelry, mementos, or precious objects.
