Description from the seller

Beautiful antique Delft tile
Originating from the Netherlands, mid-17th century

Depicted scene: We see a walking arquebusier (hook gunner), a type of soldier from the 16th and 17th centuries, equipped with a hook gun. The hook gun was a kind of heavy hand cannon that could be hooked onto the edge of a wall and the like, so the weapon did not recoil into the shooter's face or body.
The hook is clearly depicted in the scene, which he wears on his shoulder

Notably, the arquebusier is depicted rather nonchalantly, as if he is blowing out after a hard day.

With border decoration of ox heads
Made of Delft Blue, earthenware, glazed

Dimensions: 13 cm length x 13.1 cm width x 1.3 cm thickness
Weight: 402 grams
Good condition, missing a small piece at the top right, very beautiful drawing
Originating from the Netherlands, mid-17th century

The object will be packed with utmost care and shipped with Track & Trace
