Collapsible walking cane with case – mother-of-pearl and tortoiseshell-effect celluloid – Trieste, early 1900s
The shaft is made of tortoiseshell-effect celluloid, a typical vintage material used as an alternative to natural materials. The grip is in natural mother-of-pearl, characterized by iridescent reflections, with gold-tone metal fittings.
The item is complete with the original case signed "C.M. Faschiani – Jeweler – Trieste", evidence of sale at a historic jewelry shop in Trieste.
The cane is detachable via internal threading, a characteristic typical of travel models of the era.
