Two Art Déco sterling silver items from Germany: a pocket flask in .925 silver, 14 cm high, 8.5 cm wide and 3 cm deep, weighing 188.14 g, dating to 1930–1940 and in very good condition with minor signs of wear and age; the set also includes a desk bell titled “Dutchess” in 925 silver with a bow-shaped handle.
Description from the seller
Pocket Deco-inspired silver Fiaschetta 925 (with the inscription "Sterling Silver" visible on the base). The surface is entirely worked with a vertical grooving pattern (guilloché), a period-typical technique that creates refined light play and enhances the object’s grip. In the center, it features a flat rectangular cartouche, originally intended for engraving initials or noble crests, and the body has a slight ergonomic curvature, designed to fit perfectly into a suit jacket or trousers pocket without bulk. Produced between the 1920s and 1950s, it belonged to my American great-grandfather who fought in World War I in Vietnam, in North America; by law it was enough to mark the purity with the word "Sterling" or "Sterling Silver" at 92.5%. A period when these accessories were symbols of status and social refinement. To accompany it, a delightful Dutchess tabletop bell in 925 silver with a ribbon, the peculiarity lying in the handle, finely shaped like a bow; this detail gives the piece a touch of femininity and the refined character typical of desk or boudoir trinkets. An ideal set for anyone seeking a piece of history to display or gift.
