Description from the seller
Elegant French decorative plaque from the second half of the 19th century, cast in bronze/brass in the Napoleon III style.
The plaque features a central medallion with a veiled female profile, inspired by Renaissance models, surrounded by a rich Rocaille frame with leaves and ornamental volutes.
This type of mount was used as a decorative central element on fine furniture (chests of drawers, coffers, or armoires) during the Napoleon III period.
The casting is of good quality with a very pronounced three-dimensional relief, which gives great depth and decorative presence.
