Stool - Leather, Wood - Camel stool

Nice, simple, ornamented camel stool for a Boho Chic or retro interior. The stool is located in the Netherlands, but its origin is North Africa, more specifically Tunisia. The previous owner’s parents brought it back in 1970–1980 as a souvenir when they vacationed in Tunisia; it could be older.

This type of stool usually comes from North Africa, mainly Morocco, sometimes from Egypt, and occasionally from Tunisia. Based on style and finish, this is not an antique nomad object, but a decorative export piece; it is meant to be taken home by vacationers.

These reproduction stools are inspired by traditional camel saddles from Berber and desert cultures. In the 20th century they were made as decorative furniture for export and tourism. The style is recognizable by the following outward features:
- Wooden frame with curved legs
- Upholstery of goat or cow hide
- Brass studs and round brass medallions

Brass caps, brass nails, and brass ornament have a beautiful patina. The wood bears signs of wear appropriate to its age. The leather cushion also shows wear, but is very clean, with no stains, scratches, or gouges. The cushion is thick and so well filled that the zipper has come loose here and there; you can see this in the photos. Additionally, one leather joint is broken. However, everything is present. The seat cushion is removable.

The stool is sturdy, strong, and in a very decorative condition. Photos have been taken from all sides so you can assess the condition of the stool and cushion yourself. The photos are part of the description.
