Important large ornamental cup in bronze and marble – 19th century
Magnificent and elegant ornamental cup from the 19th century, made of patinated bronze and marble, of high craftsmanship and notable visual presence.
The cup features a richly shaped body with refined relief decoration of vine shoots and leaves, finely chased and developed with a fluid and natural flow, typical of the best late 19th-century decorative production. On the upper rim stand out two winged cherubs in bronze, sculpted with great plastic sensibility and anatomical attention, caught in a contemplative stance, a strong element of elegant symbolic and compositional balance.
The bronze casting is of very good quality, with a warm, deep patina that enhances volumes and details, giving the whole a noble and authentic appearance. All of this rests on a solid marble base, turned and proportioned, which lends vertical emphasis and stability, creating a refined tactile contrast with the metal.
The overall impression is harmonious, imposing, and of great formal balance, designed as an object of display, ideal for dignified interiors, period interiors, decorative arts collections, or as a central element on a console, columns, or coffee tables.
