Art Nouveau glass vase with lithyalin marbleised glass mounted on a gilded bronze stand, dating to circa 1900–1910, produced by Manufacture nationale de Sèvres, 17 cm tall and 7 cm in diameter, weighing 360 g, in excellent condition.
Description from the seller
Elegant and refined Art Nouveau-inspired vase, characterized by its stylized cylindrical form and its spectacular decoration in marbleized glass of the lithyalin type. The piece presents a harmonious combination of translucent greens, milky whites, and veins in deep red, creating an undulating, organic effect that recalls polished natural stone.
The glass body rests on an exquisite mount in gilded bronze finely chiselled, decorated with acanthus leaves and vegetal motifs, typical of the naturalist taste of the late 19th century. The curved feet provide stability and elegance, elevating the ensemble to a piece with great decorative presence.
This type of glass, known as lithyalin, was highly valued in Europe for its ability to imitate hard stones through complex coloring and layering processes, and is associated with high-quality productions linked to French and Central European manufactories.
In good overall condition, in keeping with its age. The mount shows a natural patina of time that enhances its character. The glass is preserved without structural damage or chips.
The lithyalin marbleized glass pieces with mounts in gilded bronze represent a perfect fusion between decorative arts and 19th-century glassmaking techniques. Examples attributed to manufactories such as Manufacture nationale de Sèvres are especially valued for their quality, aesthetics, and rarity on the international market.
