De Roos Midden format stereo camera, in reasonably good physical condition and not tested, designed for 120/220 film; a self-built camera from 1973 by P. H. Roos in Amsterdam, with the original correspondence related to J. G. Ferwerda.
Description from the seller
Self-built camera from 1973.
This camera carries a piece of history.
The camera was built by Mr. P.H. Roos in Amsterdam.
For promoting and improving stereophotography and display means, a well-known prominent figure, J. G. Ferwerda, was well versed in optical theories and propagated this within the stereo photography community of the time. It was also the period when the major camera manufacturers no longer produced high-quality full-format stereo cameras; only adapters for mono/2D cameras with one lens remained.
This camera has therefore been owned by Mr. Ferwerda. To what extent he himself used it is not certain.
During that period, self-built cameras were seen more often. This is thus one such example of a stereo medium-format camera, made from parts of some stereo camera from the distant past.
Operation is accomplished using springs and cords/strings.
The original correspondence between Mr. Roos and Ferwerda is still included.
