Jewellery box - Mahogany, Maple, Walnut, Ebony - tissue box

This is an antique Tunbridge ware handkerchief box with complex inlaid wooden mosaic patterns. The hinged lid features an intricate floral motif in the center, surrounded by a geometric mosaic border. This technique was used between the 18th and 19th centuries in Tunbridge Wells, England. Inside, it is still neatly lined with the original paper. There is very little damage to the woodwork, though there are some wear spots on the varnish. Dimensions: 15 cm / 15 cm. Height: 6 cm. Weight: 275 grams.
