Description from the seller

Hello, I’m putting up for sale this stunning very rare player from the early to mid-1990s, strictly made in Japan, in excellent condition (a few light scratches on the chassis) but the front panel is excellent and the mechanics were superb for its time. In that historical context, when the industry sought increasingly refined solutions to improve linearity and dynamic range, the SL-PS840 stood out as a testimonial. The aesthetic adopts Technics’ technical language with a central drawer, numeric keypad for direct access to tracks, large and legible transport controls, and a high-visibility display. The full-size chassis in dark finish communicates solidity and rigor, with classic proportions of the era. The construction emphasizes mechanical stability of the reading section and shielding of internal paths, elements that today interest collectors as much as enthusiasts of 1990s industrial design.

Technologically, the S-Advanced MASH 1-bit conversion with high oversampling clearly reflects the direction pursued by the best players of the time. Typical features include headphone output with front adjustment, optical digital output for pairing with contemporary DACs, programming, repeat and fast search functions, all testaments to a project designed to offer control and full functionality according to the standards of the period. Signal-to-noise ratio, channel separation, and dynamics sit at the top of the reference category of the era, contributing to the model’s collectible reputation.

This model integrated the virtual battery system of the higher-end model Technics SL P2000. A notable detail, as the Virtual Battery was an exclusive Technics solution that simulates the benefits of a battery-powered supply, completely eliminating disturbances from the AC mains and internal digital circuits.

Collectible item, in very good condition, carefully serviced and compatible with burned media (CD-R/CD-RW). As always, please carefully check the photos because they faithfully correspond to the piece of history that will be shipped to its new home if you manage to win the auction. For all technical data, I invite you to check Hifiengine by typing Technics ’SL-PS840; you’ll find everything you need. The CD will be packed in courier-proof packaging to ensure it arrives without damage. HAPPY BIDDING!! N.B. Unfortunately I do not have the remote control, but it can be found online for a few euros.
