Storage trunk - Wood, Brass - firewood box

Vintage coal and firewood fireplace trunk, typically of English craftsmanship, dating from the 19th or early 20th century.

It is made with a wooden core covered by repoussé brass or copper sheet. (repoussé technique).
It features raised relief rural and genre scenes. The lid depicts a building or country inn, while the side panels show scenes of daily life.

Historically used to store coal or firewood beside the fireplace.
Many of these pieces were produced in England during the Victorian or Edwardian era.

It is in very good condition with a beautiful brass patina that adds to its charm.
