Appleton Estate Hearts Collection, bottled by Velier in 2020, is a 60% ABV Jamaica rum distilled in 1994 from 100% pot stills, aged in Jamaica, limited to 3,000 bottles of 70cl each and sold in original packaging.
Description from the seller
The Appleton Estate 1994 Hearts Collection is not just a rum, but a piece of Jamaican distillation history. It is part of a legendary series born from the meeting between Joy Spence, the world's first female Master Blender, and Luca Gargano, Velier's patron and a well-known "hunter" of rare rums.
This bottle represents a small revolution for Appleton Estate. For centuries, the distillery has based its style on the "blending" of rum produced in both column stills and pot stills. The Hearts Collection marks the first time that 100% Pot Still rums have been released, which are distilled exclusively into discontinuous copper stills, giving the distillate a much deeper and more complex structure and aroma.
Distilled in 1994 and bottled in 2020, this rum has been resting for 26 years in the warm lands of Jamaica. This "tropical" ageing is extremely intense: heat accelerates the interaction between liquid and wood in American oak barrels, making one year in Jamaica equivalent to about three years of ageing in Europe.
Being a limited edition of just 3,000 bottles, extracted from just 12 selected barrels, it is now an object of desire for collectors around the world.
