Val Saint Lambert - Vase - Crystal

A beautifully cut crystal Art Deco vase in double-layered green and transparent crystal. Possibly a design by Joseph Simon for Val-Saint-Lambert. Circa 1930–1940. Height: 15.5 cm. Diameter: 12.5 cm. Weight: 2.1 kg. The vase is in good condition, with a few signs of wear.

The vase is made of crystal with a lead content of about 33 to 40%, well above the legally required minimum quality of 24%, which gives exquisite quality and brilliance. The technique used to make this two-colored crystal is called doubler: the form is mouth-blown in clear crystal, after which the piece is doubled with red crystal. Then the facets are cut. Finally the crystal is polished with lava stone and a linen cloth. This labor-intensive process yields a stunning result of the highest quality.
