Rare set of 41 keys in wrought iron (17th–19th centuries)
Beautiful collector's set comprising 41 authentic wrought-iron pieces, displaying a remarkable diversity of pannetons and styles. The set is preserved in a beautiful natural dark patina.
Three major pieces stand out:
• Master key "Double" (18th century): Rare model with two opposite pannets and a central heart-shaped handle. An exceptional curiosity piece.
• Louis XV ceremonial key: Poly-lobed ring and baluster shaft, intended for prestigious furniture or a noble residence.
• Signed property key (17th/18th century): Robust model bearing an era-engraved cross on the shank, workshop or identifying mark.
Lot description:
The remainder of the collection (38 pieces) offers a wide variety of rings and cutouts, ranging from cabinet keys with bored shafts to large door keys for communication. A complete panorama of ancient locksmithing, ideal for a cabinet of curiosities.
