Description from the seller
Peru. Lima. 10,000 Soles. 1982.
- Value: 10,000 Soles.
- Year: 1982.
- Inscriptions: On the obverse, “CENTURY OF THE BREÑA CAMPAIGN” surrounding the bust of Andrés A. Cáceres with the dates 1882–1982; on the reverse, the national coat of arms of Peru circled by the legend “BANCO CENTRAL DE RESERVA DEL PERÚ” and the face value.
- Grade: MS63 (PCGS).
Commemorative coin issued by the Banco Central de Reserva del Perú to celebrate the centenary of the Breña Campaign, one of the most notable episodes of the War of the Pacific, led by General Andrés A. Cáceres. The obverse presents a detailed and highly expressive portrait of the Peruvian military figure, with excellent definition in facial features and uniform, while the reverse shows the national coat of arms finely worked, flanked by laurel and palm branches. The piece retains an attractive original lustre, with well-preserved fields and crisp reliefs, showing only slight marks typical of the MS63 grade, making it a solid piece and highly representative of contemporary Peruvian commemorative numismatics.
