These ruby crystals (corundum) originate from Mauritania, (Tiris Zemmour region) about 100 km northeast of the town of Zouerate.
I found these rubies during research and reconnaissance in the desert with a view to offering stays for mineral enthusiasts and gold-detection enthusiasts.
I offer them as I found them; I have not subjected them to any heat or chemical treatment, just cleaned with soapy water.
All photos are taken in natural daylight.
For some of them I placed the rubies on a light source, the flashlight of my mobile phone, or a lamp.
I photographed these gems as honestly and accurately as possible using daylight.
Please note that differences in screen settings and ambient lighting can lead to variations in color, saturation, and perceived tone.
