A French antique samovar dating to 1850–1900, made of silvered metal and bone, in good used condition, about 43.5 cm high, 31 cm wide, 20 cm deep, weighing around 2.5 kg, and in working order.
Description from the seller
Splendid and imposing antique samovar, a masterful example of French ornamental silverware from the second half of the 19th century. The object stands out for the exceptional quality of the engravings executed entirely by hand with a burin, featuring floral and geometric motifs of millimetric precision surrounding a central cartouche. It rests on four lion-paw feet in heavy casting, extremely stable and finished in the finest detail. Elegant faucet handle clad in natural ivory (intact), a noble material used at the time to insulate heat.
The samovar is complete with all its original components: central body, coordinated lid, and the original removable burner located at the base.
Main Features:
- Dimensions: imposing height of 43.5 cm.
- Maximum width (including handles): 31 cm
- Body diameter: Ø 20 cm
- Weight: Approximately 2.5 kg, testifying to the solidity of the materials.
Marks and Dating:
Under the base there is the numeric inscription "1869", which most likely indicates the year of manufacture, coherent with the style and construction technique. The number "16" underneath presumably indicates the serial number or the piece within the artisan workshop's production.
Condition:
The object is in excellent aesthetic condition considering its age. It presents a splendid antique patina. There are slight signs of wear, small structural imperfections due to the artisanal craftsmanship of the period.
