Country of origin: China; Model: Tibet - Gereinigd; a hand-knotted Oriental rug from the mid-20th century, professionally cleaned.
Description from the seller
-- "Special & semi-antique Tibetan, an impressive rug in beautiful condition"
-- Professionally cleaned*
-- approx. 160,000 knots per m²
-- With Certificate
*Before entering our warehouse, cleaned at a laundromat specializing in hand-knotted rugs, then not used again.
This is a hand-knotted Oriental rug, made of durable, natural materials. The way of knotting and the diversity of patterns make this rug a unique piece and emphasize its authentic and artisanal character.
It is an excellent used rug with an extremely long lifespan.
This is a lightly used, cleaned rug that can be laid out as is. This beautiful Tibetan rug is hand-knotted circa 1960 with the finest, undyed wool sourced from sheep from the high Tibetan region. This wool is naturally extra greasy due to the cold temperatures (acts as an insulator for sheep). When this wool is used in carpets it not only provides a beautiful, extra sheen but also serves as a natural protective layer. Wool of better quality is (almost) hard to find. Natural color differences are visible, due to the wool that is NOT bleached prior to the first dye bath. This gives the rug an authentic appearance, and contributes to the character of this rug that is full of stories.
Main color: Red
Accent colors: Cream and black
Special features: Rich abrash (intra-natural color differences); Much luster; Beautiful clean and fresh; Full, thick and cushioned rug; Gorgeous sheen; Depending on the viewing angle this rug has a lighter and a darker side; Impressive rug; Special object; Characterful; Semi-antique.
Usage marks: Minimal spots of edge damage, despite still an impressive rug in good condition (photo 15).
