The Olympus XA3 is a 35mm compact camera. It also belongs to Olympus' XA series. The design of the black camera is therefore virtually identical to that of the Olympus XA.
However, its functionality is more similar to that of the Olympus XA2. The biggest difference with the latter is that the XA3 can adjust the film sensitivity via the DX coding on the film cassette itself. Moreover, the range of usable films has been extended to ISO 1600. All 35mm films with a sensitivity between ISO 25 and ISO 1600 can thus be used with the XA3.
Another feature that was missing on the Olympus XA2 is backlight compensation (+1.5).
The Olympus XA4 (Macro) is a 35mm camera produced by Olympus in the 1980s. It is the last camera in Olympus's XA series. Because it was produced only for a short time, only a small number were made, making it rare and driving up used prices.
The design of the black camera resembles that of the Olympus XA, but beyond that they are completely different devices.
For example, it has a 28mm lens instead of a 35mm focal length. Also, the rangefinder of the original XA is missing. Instead, there is a zone-focusing system (0.3 m, 0.5 m, 0.7 m, 3 m and infinity). When the lens cap is closed, the setting resets to 3 meters.
Because of the short minimum focusing distance, the XA4 earned the "Macro" addition in its name.
The camera sets the exposure itself using the light meter, powered by two SR44 batteries. At the same time, the DX coding of the film ensures that the camera automatically selects the sensitivity (ISO 25 to ISO 1600).
With the Olympus XA4, a flash can be used, but the side connector is only suitable for flashes from this camera series.
