A particularly decorative and authentic pair of Hindeloopen duck decoys, handmade and hand-painted in the characteristic style of Frisian painting from Hindeloopen. These graceful wooden ducks combine traditional craftsmanship with the rich ornamentation for which Hindeloopen is internationally known.

The ducks are rendered in two contrasting colors – a warm reddish-brown and a deep blue-green variant – and are richly adorned with graceful floral motifs in yellow, gold tones, green and black. These typical Hindelooper decorations refer to the centuries-old painting tradition from the Frisian town of Hindeloopen, where furniture and utilitarian objects were often adorned with such floral patterns.

Originally, duck decoys were functional objects used in duck hunting to attract wild ducks. Over time, however, they have grown into cherished collectibles and decorative art objects. This pair forms a beautiful combination of traditional design and folk art.

Condition

Good vintage condition with slight signs of use appropriate to age and use. Small superficial traces are visible, especially on the underside, but the painting and shape have been well preserved. See photos for a complete picture of the condition.
