Leibinger branded metal set of mechanical number and letter wheels from Germany, circa 1960s–1970s, comprising 11 parts and Leibinger components, in good used condition with patina and marks; not tested and intended for decorative use only.
Description from the seller
A rare and visually striking set of mechanical number and letter wheels from the graphic industry of the mid-20th century, including components from the German brand Leibinger. These precision instruments were originally used for industrial marking, date stamps and printing applications. Today, this kind of object is increasingly valued as autonomous design pieces—a cross between engineering, typography, and sculpture.
The combination of steel, paint wear, and subtle discolorations gives each part a unique character. Together they form a coherent whole that fits perfectly within an industrial, brutalist, or modernist interior.
The set contains several variants of number and letter wheels, including two heavier mounting/holding blocks. The mechanical construction is still clearly visible and partly functional, which adds to the authenticity. The presence of Leibinger components increases the collecting value, given the brand’s reputation within industrial marking technology.
Objects like these sit at the crossroads of:
