Fascinating mid-20th-century office desk (circa 1950s–1960s), perfectly embodying the functional elegance of Mid-Century Modern design. The piece has undergone a professional conservative restoration that has enhanced its original beauty.
Details and Structure:
The desk is made of solid walnut wood and veneer, with a warm amber tone. It features a highly sought-after asymmetrical configuration:
• On the left: an open shelf ideal for books or documents, above a three-drawer chest.
• In the center: a large central under-counter drawer, equipped with an original brass lock (key included).
• The structure is completed by an elegant and functional tubular chrome footrest, typical of the rationalist period.
The Top:
The focal point of the desk is the wide work surface, which has been restored with a new and fine forest-green faux leather, finished with a delicate gold Greek key impressed along the perimeter, exactly like the original of the era.
Hardware:
All the drawer handles are original, in satin-finished solid brass, and have been cleaned and polished.
Conditions:
The piece is in excellent vintage condition, ready to be placed in a study, an office, or a living room. The restoration has removed the signs of time, preserving the original patina of the wood.
