Description from the seller

Max Le Verrier (1891–1973)

“Les Chevaux d’Apollon”

Grand mural wall plaque Art Deco – 33 cm – Bronze with green patina

Superb and large wall-mounted model representing The Horses of Apollo, emblematic work by French sculptor Max Le Verrier, a major figure of Art Deco.

This spectacular composition depicts Apollo rising from the waves, surrounded by his solar horses, in a dynamic staging highlighted by stylized radiations typical of the 1925–1935 period.

Characteristics
• Artist: Max Le Verrier
• Title: Les Chevaux d’Apollon
• Era: around 1925–1935
• Material: bronze with green patina
• Diameter: 33 cm
• Signature: molded signature “M. Le Verrier” on the back
• Original mounting system present

Condition

Good overall structural condition.
Presence of traces of oxidation and wear visible at the center of the composition, consistent with age and exposure to humidity.

The original green patina is largely preserved and offers a very beautiful reading of the relief.

No cracks or structural restorations observed.

Artistic interest

This model is among the most sought-after mythological compositions by the artist.
Its 33 cm format, rarer than the small models, makes it a strong decorative piece, ideal for Art Deco interiors or a specialized collection.
