Description from the seller
Lot Presentation:
Elegant double-body trumeau cabinet, made in Italy in the mid-20th century in perfect Louis XV style (Barocchetto). The piece features a solid walnut frame, fully veneered and enriched with refined inlays in maple and fruitwoods.
Structure Analysis:
Upper body (Alzata): Characterized by a curved and split crest. The two doors feature central inlaid panels with motifs of a galant scene (figures in bucolic landscapes) surrounded by floral frames. Inside there are shaped shelves.
Central Body (Ribalta): The tambour door, also richly inlaid with a central medallion, opens to reveal a small compartment with four small drawers and a central cavity. The writing surface is wide and functional.
Lower body (Base): Follows the curved line of the structure with three wide front drawers. The base terminates with saber legs typical of the eighteenth-century style.
Technical Details and Condition:
Hardware: Original cast-bronze handles and escutcheons, chased with rocailles motifs.
Condition: The piece is presented in excellent vintage condition. The structure is solid. There are light and normal signs of wear on the finish and small superficial scratches consistent with its age (visible in close-up photos), which do not impair its aesthetic value but testify to the period's authenticity.
Keys: One working key present.
