Heuer Trackmaster Ref. 8047 is a manual wind mechanical stopwatch with a plastic case, over 50 mm in diameter, in good condition with visible wear, and a 1/5‑second timing scale plus a 60‑minute register in blue.
Description from the seller
During the 1970s, Heuer sold many stopwatches like the Trackmaster and Trackstar — such as this vivid blue Heuer Trackmaster Ref. 8047, a mechanical stopwatch with 1/5 second precision.
The Heuer Trackmaster offered here features a 1/5 second stopwatch with a timeout function, with a 60-minute register with color‑coded segments — it was available in black, red, white, chrome, or the blue of this example.
Trackmaster movements are quite precise and reliable, with a regulation tolerance of ±1.5 seconds per hour when new. The sporty Trackmaster line from Heuer was a deviation from their “professional” stopwatches for industrial and scientific applications, which had high-frequency accuracy escapements (Calibre 7700 series with a high frequency of 36,000 bph, with a regulation tolerance of 0.5 seconds per hour).
Not many of Heuer’s brightly colored Trackmaster stopwatches have survived in good condition, and the example offered here is wound and runs like new, and all color-coded bands on the pushers are intact (usually the first to wear on these Trackmasters).
Heuer launched its Trackmaster line around 1969 and sold it through the 1980s. Mechanical stopwatches from Heuer, with one notable exception, were less emphasized after the early 1980s. Heuer was a pioneer in electronic LCD stopwatches and aggressively marketed them, which eventually brought an end to mechanical stopwatches like this Trackmaster.
This Heuer Trackmaster was used for timing lap times at circuits such as Le Mans and Spa-Francorchamps and during races such as the Mille Miglia and the Targa Florio.
Ideal for fans of Heuer, Porsche, Ferrari, Le Mans, Steve McQueen, Mille Miglia, Targa Florio, etc.
